Our Process

For new dentures

1. Initial consult: (30mins) Patient is seen for consult, and treatment plan/options explained. Quotes given. Patients can choose to continue tx immediately or are welcome to take time to consider and book in another appointment when/if ready to continue.
   • If continuing with treatment on day, initial set of impressions taken to start process.
   • If continuing, a deposit is to be paid either at end of appointment, or later via bank transfer. Tx will not be started until deposit is received.
2. Second appt: Bite and trays (30 mins). Secondary impressions taken using custom made impression trays, to get a more accurate fit for the denture.
3. Third appt: Try in (20 mins). An unfinished/changable wax version of the denture is tried in to check feel and fit, and placement of the teeth (as well as the shape/colour of teeth etc.). No try in needed for immediate dentures, as teeth will require extraction before denture can be placed in mouth.
4. AS NEEDED: Re-try (20 mins). Usually, a re-try is not necessary except in certain situations, if initial try in shows further adjustment/checks required.
5. Fourth appt: Insert (20 mins). Denture is inserted and bite checked to ensure comfortable and well fitting. Any final adjustments made as needed. The patient is given denture care instructions, and any final questions/concerns can be addressed.
   • Health fund claims and final payment of remaining invoice amount is to be paid at this appointment.
6. Follow up/adjustment appointments: Patients are asked to come back for a follow up appointment around a week/two weeks after insert to check denture is fitting well and no issues. Patients are encouraged to make an appointment if any issues or concerns, and adjustments/checks can be made. Adjustments and follow up appointment are free of charge, as they are included as part of the treatment costs already paid.

For denture additions/relines/repairs

1. For same day appointments (standard) – patients will come in for morning appointment (usually before 9.30, to allow adequate time for same-day repair). Denture needs will be assessed and treatment options/quotes given.
2. If patient happy to continue, any needed impressions will be taken, and the denture will remain with us for a few hours to carry out the necessary work/repairs.
3. Once denture is ready (afternoon), we will give patient a call to organise a time to collect the denture.
4. At collection, payment is to be made (after any health fund claims have been made).
5. Patients are advised to contact us if any concerns or adjustments needed after denture is returned.

• For patients not able to come in for a same day treatment appointment, we can try and arrange alternative times to find something more suitable (often this will mean dropping the denture to us on a Tuesday, and collecting on a Thursday, but this varies case by case).
